Exercise Your Right to Vote Now until Election Day (E-Day) – 10/20/20

by Oct 21, 2020Blog0 comments

Today is October 20, 2020, we are now two weeks away from E-Day (Nov. 3, 2020). First, I want to mention that the last Presidential debate will air this Thursday at 9 PM Eastern Time. Check your local listings to know which TV channel(s) will air that debate.

Next, note that in-person early voting is now underway in several more states, that include Florida and North Carolina. If you live in a state with a defined in-person early voting period, or received a mail-in/absentee ballot that you can properly complete and submit before E-Day, now is your time to vote! If you’re not sure about your state’s voting requirements, deadlines, etc., you can do either of the following:

a) Do a Google search on “How do I vote” for the state where you reside
b) Review any of the resources listed below

In closing, I want to reiterate my reminder message from last week, by offering two tips you can use now to overcome the obstacles that aim to discourage you from making an informed voting decision:

Report observed encounters of voter suppression/voter intimidation
Election Protection Hotline (866-OUR-VOTE) or https://866ourvote.org

Be on guard against misinformation/disinformation
1) FactCheck.org website
2) Fact Check Explorer (Google): https://toolbox.google.com/factcheck/explorer
3) Social Media Verification (The City University of NY): https://researchguides.journalism.cuny.edu/factchecking-verification/UGC-verification
