Exercise Your Right to Vote – Online Deception

Happy Tuesday! Today is October 13, 2020. We have 3 weeks remaining until Election Day (E-Day) on Nov. 3rd! As in-person early voting gets underway in several additional states that include Texas and Georgia, today’s email reminder will provide you with some tools/information that you can use right now until E-Day, to prevent getting discouraged from voting. I’ve listed two very broad categories of voter discouragement below to be on guard against, and warn others about:

VOTING PROBLEMS/VOTER INTIMIDATION

Election Protection Hotline (866-OUR-VOTE)

FBI.gov video: Safeguarding Your Vote: A Joint Message on Election Security

To drive home today’s message, I’ll close with an example of a YouTube video that I received via text from a friend of mine, along with the (very basic) steps I took to apply the above information:

Example video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jPUFwmZN9eo

Steps I took:

1) Clicked on the name of the You Tube video poster to get information about the poster

2) Next, clicked on the “About” tab, where you should then find a “Description” section and a “Details” section.

3) Under the “Details” section, looked for “Location”. The location information will tell you the location of the video poster (for convenience, the end result is listed here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC30tPgB_G6OY09dawkubVQQ/about)
